Asah See

​John and Karen Huff reside in rural New London.

John was raised in New London, a son of Arlie and Emma (Haden) Huff.   He is a 1968 graduate of Mark Twain High School, entering the Marine Corps in 1969 serving in Vietnam.  John retired from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 562 in 2010 after 42 years.   John served on the Ralls County R-II School Board for nine years, is a member of the American Legion,  DAV, Vietnam Veterans of America, and volunteers at the VA Medical Center in Columbia.  John has two brothers, Mike, who lives in New London, and Roger, who passed away from lung cancer in 2018.

John and Karen were married on May 29, 1976 in Crestwood, Missouri, where they resided until moving to New London in 1978. 

Karen was raised in Crestwood.  She graduated from Lindbergh High School in 1972.   Karen recently retired after 24 years as a Deputy Clerk in the Ralls County Circuit Clerk’s Office.  She was an Officer and active Member of Tiger Pride.  Karen’s mother, Norma, resides with John and Karen.  Karen has one brother, Gary, who lives in Victoriaville, Quebec.

John and Karen have two children, Sam and Katie.   Sam and his wife, Tara, live in Valley Park, Missouri, and have two children, Carson and Darren.   Katie and her husband, Sham, live in Sacramento, California, and have one child, Azaka.
 




2019 Grand Marshals

Asah Thaddeus See is the 2 year old son of Jeremiah and Andrea See.  Asah was born with Critical Congenital Heart Defects; Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, Total Anomalous Pulmonary Veinous Return, and Pulmonary Vein Stenosis. 
Asah has had two open heart surgeries his first being at 4 days old and second at 3 months old. Each surgery complicated, correcting 2 or more defects.
He has endured 4 additional surgeries to repair other complications and has had 8 Cardiac Catheterizations ballooning veins and arteries and placing 3 stents in his veins and 5 in his arteries.
Asah spent a total of 214 days his first year of life in the hospital and a total of 36  days his second year of life. 
Asah lives every day life on a ventilator that helps him breathe, oxygen, pulse ox machine, and many other devices that help us monitor his health. 
Asah has three siblings and a niece. His big sister Miya is in her first year of college and is 19 years old. Ty is 16 and enjoys the outdoors and football. Thea is 5 and she enjoys tumbling and art. Uncle Asah also has a one year old niece Eliza that he adores! Asah enjoys playing with cars and building with blocks.
Asah has overcome so much in his short life and we do not know what the future holds but he gives each day his best with smiles, laughter, and love.
